Companies and Platform Synergies

Pioneering an Integrated Insurance Platform for Unparalleled Growth and Expansion

Building the future of insurance.

Southampton is building an integrated platform that will include insurance brokers and MGAs. The intent is to leverage the competencies and resources of each operating subsidiary. Each subsidiary will be allowed to operate independently and will be given access to a variety of resources from Southampton, including a common IT platform, access to capital for growth, access to new insurer markets, and cross-selling referrals.

Southampton will provide a variety of services for operating subsidiaries including IT systems, Accounting, Human Resources, Strategic Planning, and Legal.

Southampton will be able to offer a broader range of markets to its platform companies. It will also be able to negotiate higher commission rates (including contingent profit commission) on behalf of its platform companies.

Each platform company will make a specific contribution to the Southampton platform. Southampton will look for acquisitions that are not just EBIDTA accretive but which also add additional skills and areas of expertise to the platform.

Platform companies will also be encouraged to buy books of business as well as hire experienced producers as an alternative to doing more expensive acquisitions of entire companies.

Southampton intends to operate as a national insurance intermediary platform in all provinces of Canada. French language capabilities will be added to the platform once a suitable insurance broker partner has been identified in Quebec.

The platform will also be able to offer additional services to its customers including premium financing, employee benefits, life and health insurance as well as wealth management services. The approach of Southampton will be to outsource and partner with leading companies in areas outside of its expertise. This will lead to the best and widest possible range of services for Southampton’s customers as well as create an income stream of referral fees.

aha insurance sets the stage for unparalleled support and synergies for all future acquisitions within Southampton's expanding network of insurance brokers and MGAs

  • The platform currently has seven markets, including Aviva, Travelers, Wawanesa, and SGI.

  • It is licensed as an insurance broker in Ontario, British Columbia and Alberta.

  • The IT platform is state of the art and is fully integrated to quote and bind. It allows for deep data mining - which is the future of insurance.

aha is a “foundation” part of Southampton’s platform. It is a fully licensed insurance broker that uses its own proprietary software as a critical tool in its business. The IT infrastructure, group of insurers already on the platform, and its omnichannel approach will provide support and synergies for Alteri as well as other insurance brokers and MGAs that Southampton will acquire.
